Sown sesame seeds in Chad will be brought to Turkey

A meeting about sesame import from the significant country in Africa, Chad to Turkey was held in Torbalı Chamber of Commerce with the participation of Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in N’djamena’s Ambassador Mr. Ergen. Ambassador Mr. Ergen stated “We’ve made an important step for the project that we’ve started in Chad”.

Torbalı Chamber of Commerce hosted an important meeting recently. Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in N’djamena’s Ambassador Erdal Sabri Ergen and some companies from Aegea and Turkey’s various regions that facilitate in sesame sector have gathered together in Torbalı Chamber of Commerce, with the aim of importing sesame to Turkey from Chad. The representatives of the sector have attended the meeting that was hosted by Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun and Council President Erkan Aksoy. Last February, Chad President İdris Debi Itno came to Turkey and after the meetings and negotiations with delegations and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, it was decided to increase the trading volume from 60 million $ to 100 million $.

SESAME TRADE WILL INCREASE

Ergen said that the two countries’ Presidents have given instructions to increase economic cooperation. A large part of Turkey’s imports from Chad consists of sesame seeds stated Ambassador Ergen; “We’ve made an important step in Turkey for the development project that started in Chad with the support of TİKA. The project we’ve initiated is a development project. We’ve sown the seeds, now its time to harvest. We will meet the Turkish buyers for the sesame we’ve sown. For this matter Torbalı Chamber of Commerce gathered us with the representatives from this sector. I believe that the project will become established in years to come and Turkish businessmen will be the most important players in Chad.”

COOPERATION BRIDGE WITH AFRICA

Stating that they are excited to be able to host this project’s Turkey part, Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun said “We care about foreign trade. We’ve made some important works in our foreign trade department, which we launched in the beginning of this year. Today we’ve hosted a project which will provide a significant advantage to Turkish sesame buyers while assisting Chad’s development”. Drawing attention to Chad’s significant opportunity for sesame buyers in İzmir and Mersin regions, Olgun said “TİKA and our embassy initiated an important work. Our presence as a country in Africa is very important. These markets remain untouched. All developed countries perform important works here. We have historical connections. To become more efficient we need to increase commercial cooperation”.
