Torbalı, who have been brought up to the agenda with it’s success in agriculture-based industry, is becoming a model to the districts and cities that want to start production in this field. Torbalı Chamber President Abdulvahap Olgun has welcomed Şereflikoçhisar Chamber of Commerce and said, “We are sharing our experiences with Şereflikoçhisar who want to improve in agriculture-based industry”.
Şereflikoçhisar Chamber of Commerce, which is affiliated to Ankara, came to the district with the delegation of 20 people and received information about Torbalı’s agro-based industry and especially the production and marketing stage of dried tomatoes. Torbalı Chamber of Commerce’s guest Şereflikoçhisar Chamber of Commerce President Levent Koçak, Şereflikoçhisar Chamber of Agriculture President Hikmet Bozkurt and Şereflikoçhisar District Agriculture Director Şenol Görgülü made contacts in Torbalı. The delegates, that have been welcomed by Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun, Council President Erkan Aksoy, Chamber of Agriculture President Yılmaz Girgin, Torbalı District Agriculture Director Hakan Karakaya; visited dried tomato and tomato paste factories. Giving information to the team about the agriculture-based industrial potential of the district and the rising production graph of the dried tomatoes, Olgun visited BT Food, one of the district’s leading dried tomato companies with the delegates. Company owner Bülent Tansuğ has given information about dried tomatoes’ production and marketing possibilities.

Şereflikoçhisar Chamber of Commerce President Levent Koçak, has told that that their district has a significant wheat potential, but as an alternative tomatoes might also be processed. Koçak said “We followed the potential of dried tomatoes in Torbali from the press. We contacted the Torbalı Chamber of Commerce to determine whether there would be such an attempt in our region with friends. We would like to step up for this sector which has a high export potential with the necessary observations and information”. After the visit of dried tomato plant the delegates visited Turkey’s one of the most important canned product producer TAT Gıda; here General Manager Orhan Kanur has informed the delegates about tomato paste production and canning process.
WE WILL BECOME A MODEL FOR TURKEY
Dried tomatoes which have been known by Europeans for many years, have been heard about only recently in Turkey. Chamber President Olgun says that dried tomatoes are providing important market potential for farmers and industry in Torbalı and pointed out that the attraction of the district in this field is an example for many regions. The Chamber guides both investors and the manufacturers from all over Turkey about dried tomatoes. Olgun also stated “Torbalı’s growth in this field is drawing attention. We are often involved in researchs on dried tomatoes processing, overseas markets. Last week, we have guided delegates from Kahramanmaraş and Elazığ. Last year, we’ve welcomed 10 agricultural engineers from Dulkadiroğlu District Food, Agriculture and Livestock Directorate in our district. It is pleasing that our district, which is a model in many fields, is also a pioneer in this field”.
