Torbalı’s Exports Have Left 66 Provinces Behind

Torbalı district of İzmir left 66 provinces behind with an export value of 1 billion 180 million dollars. Tobacco, furniture and chemical industries were the leading sectors in Torbalı.

2018 export values have been announced. Torbalı, competing with the provinces with its exports, has again achieved an important success. Exporting 862 million 694 thousand dollars in 2014, 774 million dollars in 2015, 932 million dollars in 2016, and 1 billion dollars in 2017, Torbalı exported 66 billion dollars in 2018, and left 66 provinces behind. 41.8 percent of Torbali’s exports was met by the tobacco sector with 494 million dollars. Tobacco industry is followed by furniture with 105 million dollar and chemical industry with it’s 67 million dollar export values.

TORBALI SURPASSED BIG CITIES

Torbalı’s export values even surpassed big cities like Eskişehir, Trabzon, Kütahya, Samsun and Aydın. Torbalı’s export goal for 2023 was announced as 5 billion dollars. While announcing the 2018 data to the public Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun said “It is very satisfying that we’re a record breaking district. The growth in exports this year was 7.07 percent in Turkey. In Torbalı this growth rate was 8.45 percent. Our goal is to keep our export growth ratio above Turkey’s”. Stating that Torbalı’s goal is sustainable growth, Olgun said “We have many industrial establishments in Torbalı. We have around 800 factories and 2 organized industrial zones. We have production, we have agriculture, service and building industries are developing. Every year around 10-15 thousand people are added to our current population. Export values are increased compared to previous years, reaching 1 billion 180 million dollars in a year. Our products manufactured in Torbalı are sent to all over the world. In 2018, our tax collection rate was 99 percent. We are 5th in Turkey for the tax rankings.”
