Torbalı has increased 44% in e-commerce

After the epidemic, e-commerce is booming. Torbalı Chamber of Commerce President Abdulvahap Olgun, who visited the companies that sell their products on the web, said “With a ratio of 44% our sales from the web have increased from 335 million to 550 million.”

Due to the coronavirus epidemic, serious changes happened in Turkish Commerce just like the rest of the world. Vacationers have started to prefer more isolated alternatives over mass tourism. Outdoor areas and camping sites are in serious demand due to the pandemic. The sale of foldable chairs, barbecues, tents and tables, which are essential for camping, has increased by nearly 300 percent. Abdulvahap Olgun, Chairman of Torbalı Chamber of Commerce (TTO), who visited new factories in the district that makes sales over the internet said, “Our 20 businesses are working hard to meet the needs in different sectors. The product range in e-commerce has expanded considerably. Many products such as furniture, textiles, small home appliances, electronic products, home appliances, ornaments, camping equipment are sold intensively on the internet. We are proud that the products produced in Torbalı are presented to the world market via e-commerce on the internet.”

EXPORTS TO 40 COUNTRIES

In e-commerce, Torbalı increased its volume from 335 million last year to 550 million this year with an increase of 44 percent and exports to 40 countries. Members registered to Torbalı Chamber of Commerce are working to sell their products online. Olgun who shared the figures in the district said “Turkey’s e-commerce volume is increasing considerably. According to the data of January-June 2020, it was announced as 91.7 billion liras. While it was 55.9 billion lira in January-June 2019, it was 91.7 in January and June 2020. This increase in overall Turkey is reflected in the figures of Torbalı. With each passing day, our companies are doing incredible researches and taking actions to keep up with new trends.”
