Stating that Torbalı industry plays an important role in order not to break the essential supply chain during the restriction days, TTO President Olgun said, “Our 500 companies in 20 different sectors including food, health, hygiene, cleaning, logistics and export have worked sacrificially during the curfews in order to keep the supply chain from breaking.”
The curfew restriction, which was announced on weekends in 14 metropolitan and Zonguldak provinces, continued in April and May. Some sectors were included in the exemption in curfew restriction, which was also applied throughout İzmir for 8 weeks. Exceptions included food, cleaning, pharmaceuticals, logistics, export, agricultural production and businesses serving these sectors. Sometimes these curfew restrictions can take up to 4 days when merging with official holidays, Torbalı is home to many companies that are exempt from these curfews. TTO President Olgun said, “We have an important role in ensuring that the supply chain of Torbalı does not stop and the continuation of essential needs.” Noting that Torbalı District Governor Ercan Öter has allowed the companies that are required to work for 8 weeks during the curfews in accordance with the relevant circular of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Olgun said “He made a serious effort to continue the supply chain of our companies in coordination with our chamber.”.

Indicating that an average of 500 companies continue to produce in 20 different sectors over an eight-week period; Olgun said that the production of food, cleaning, health, logistics, hygiene items and the companies serving these sectors continue production. In this difficult process, our companies struggled with corona pandemic while trying to continue the supply and logistics chain. On the other hand, they made great sacrifices in the continuation of distribution of essential production. As a chamber, we have established a coordination with District Governor Öter from the very first day, we have delivered the permit documents to our companies in line with the relevant circular. Torbalı has played an important role in the continuation of the country’s essential supply and logistics in this difficult process.”.
